I’ve often thought of this, especially as I grow older. The main thing I want to leave is being remembered as a helpful person, kind , loving animals , and mostly being the epitome of an artist. I want to be known and remembered as loving to create, living to create, and loving the creation and the creator. That’s what fuels me each day. I want to be remembered as an artist,a musician,a dancer. Every gift I was given, I hope I gave it back.
Hello dancers and Salsa enthusiasts , and everyone else out there. I’ve been waiting and wanting , and have finally gotten my body up out of sidelining after long periods injury to produce a few short videos each week that outline my version of fun and simple , hopefully beneficial basics of Salsa dance.
A Time to Dance :: The Salsa Basic
It’s all based on a syllabus I learned from my great ballroom instructor several years ago. He is from Puerto Rican background and really got me into the rhythm and music of the dance of this region and I was hooked. In addition to competing ballroom in the Pro-Am circuit in the 90’s to 2000’s I taught in clubs around the Atlanta area , performed at weddings, salsa nights at Sanctuary , worked corporate shows and much more in this art form.
It is wonderful and a fun, lightweight rhythmic form of exercise that has stayed with me for a long time.
I wanted to produce some ideas that will hopefully catch on and improve with time. I’ve suffered great loss since 2015 and have fought pretty hard to just get going again. My heart jumped right back in here. Please feel free to subscribe, comment, and enjoy this dance with me. You can check out my channel on YouTube, as linking from the videos. Or go straight to it here.
My new page is on the site and is called “A Time to Dance”. I’ll be returning to everything I’ve learned over time, including tap , salsa, ballroom and maybe even some bellydance.
I’m going to go with my first thought, fashion brands. First to mind with no hesitation is Ralph Lauren. True iconic American. No fuss and clean and classic. He never goes out of style but instead brings back the old movies and classic sides of glamour to the runway. The materials and seam work are so pristine and the lines very complimentary. I think it takes a special style to wear this line. I grew up with a love fashion stemming from my Mother, watching her dress so classy and then do the same for me. This was always her favorite designer as well as the perfume he put out.
“ Tuxedo.”
I think that the basic black and white of the tuxedo inspired my logo.

Another brand that I love os Lucky Brand. The jewelry and solid boho feel really caught my attention as a designer. Fashion designers like Givenchy and Oscar de la Renta are among my favorites due to the feminine feel and look that holds. Perfume would have to Angel by Thierry Muglier.
On another route I love anything from Better Homes and Gardens. lately I’ve really gotten into discuss design and garden design because I think it’s crucial fir a person to have some kind of space that they love being in. It’s such a joy to help people find this in their home. You’re so free to break boundaries and rules in this field. Anything goes.
There are so many brands I can think of but it’s early in the morning and late at night for some I’ll have to open this and add more at another time!

P.S. WordPress is definitely my favorite brand of blog!
Do you have a quote you live your life by or think of often?
It’s like the analogy of being a dumb but gentle sheep that goes astray, always having to be directed back to a path. I say the verse but forget to go back to it, just as reflected in my path of life.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart. In all your ways acknowledge Him and he will direct your paths.”
I love this question because I feel that I can speak out true the night owls that “get going” late at night. The arrows that fly by day are a bit much for me at times, preventing the creativity I can achieve in the mysterious silence of the evening.
There’s something magical about nighttime or early mornings, especially those visited by rain or fog.
Some of my best creations have been made in the meditation of night, a place where I can speak with my creator and discover the deepest places of the mind.
For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.
Proverbs 8:11
Something New from something Old.
When I was a child my Mother bought me a beautiful handmade bookmark that has stayed with me for a lifetime. I was gifted the idea after my ribbon stayed inside a Bible, marking the exact verses for wisdom. I wanted to recreate a similar thing for others. Here is my line of bookmarks .
Below I have recorded some tints from different cases of mediums to be used for reference. I hope that these can help out when making some choices for experimentation or projects. The cases are of Derwent Inktense, Derwent Coloursoft, Fabre Castelle Art Grip Aquarelle, and Derwent Graphitint.
It’s that time again. Nights in the restaurants that play Christmas music, a misty atmosphere just perfect for creative ideas, and warm drinks all day. I love wearing my new tradition of the beanie as well. Each year I get my Mom and myself this soft, warm treat. She has worn hers for three years now! We got them at a particularly hard time in life, so I think they hold a special place in our hearts.
This year is a little easier than the last two, but we are still traveling to find our place of comfort. Two years have been spent in a hotel, along with our little trees. This year is a Dollar General version. I love it. The green just speaks life and light in a place of comfort. The year before last was just as calm, and each year provides a stray kitty at the window of the hotel.
The weather has been pretty perfect for this season. Sunny cold days with colder nights. I was just speaking with my Mom concerning that unusual, magical sense you get when you’ve been outside in the cold, waiting to go to the next shopping spot, enjoying the festivity and decor of the season, and you enter the next shop. The door may have a bell if it’s a cozy dwelling, or it could be a larger department store. Either way you are met with the music, the smells, the atmosphere of winter and Christmas. I can particularly remember timer when I lived in Atlanta and went late night shopping with my parents. We would shop Macy’s which stayed open until 2 or 3am! As I stepped into the men’s department which was the bottom floor entrance, I was immediately hit with the aroma of the Starbuck’s coffee mixed with the smell of leather from the men’s jacket section. I’ve held this memory for years.
Shopping for ties in the middle of the night was pretty fun. Only part of the fun because there were Godiva’s chocolate dipped strawberries to try, restaurants to relax in, coffee breaks at the Starbucks in the center of Lenox mall. The detour took us down to Neiman Marcus where we looked but never touched. Even the wealthy wing of the mall was accessible to dreamers at Christmas. Williams and Sonoma was always a favorite stop of the season where we were met with Bing Crosby tunes or Ella Fitzgerald playing while sipping on cider samples. Across the way you could visit the cards at Papyrus, decorations and ornaments at Bloomingdales, and a swift tour through Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel.
There was April Connell, Anthropology, angora sweaters from Wet Seal, every twenty-something’s favorite store, Restoration Hardware, an all-time favorite, all leading our tired but happy feet to the giant of the season, Macy’s. This was one of my favorite stops, passing through a girl’s dream isle of makeup and perfume. It was here the our trio would split apart, Dad going to the ties, Mom shopping more for everyone else, of course, and me being drawn into the usual jewelry and accessories department.
As great as shopping and looking was, there were always more memorable and special things such as looking up the elevator and seeing someone you knew. Year after year we would see some of the same friends in the same places. It would usual turn into a nice conversation of catch-up, memories, and what may be ahead. And as a family, it was the best of times together. My Mom, Dad and I loved to just look. We formed memories together that will never fade.
Each thing I do or make at Christmas reminds me of this happy time in my life, but each year it’s special and holds it’s own new memory. That’s what I call the Joy of Christmas.
