“Saffron Toucanet”
by Alison McGlamry (2018)
Saffron Toucanet is a very vivid piece with huge color, ironically coming from a very small bird. It represents a tiny but mighty expression of art. Power can come from the smallest places, and in this case with very large faces!
Sennelier, Rembrandt, Conte’ on Canson Mi-Tientes
19″ x 25″

“Project Redfish” is a finished commission fish painting for my longtime friend and current owner, Martin Seeling. Marty has supported and encouraged me for as long as I don’t know. At the beginning of my ballet journey, he was my first pas de deux coach and made it such fun. Marty is a huge fan of saltwater fishing. He is also very creative and talented at photography. This is his shot, which he suggested I do. It is such a fabulous piece, with the ability to be turned at any angle. Magic always happens with Marty!

“Male Blue Bunting” is a beautiful and rich piece completed during a very special time. It represents new friendships and springtime journeys in life. It has several hues of blues in the body and is backed by bright and soft greens and purples. Looks wonderful framed in white, brown, or a more modern variety of framing.

“Indian Ringneck” is a work in progress. This is a great version of the drawing before it was a bit faded over time. It may end up being just a memory but a lovely one at that!
Updates soon.

“Yewellee” by Alison McGlamry 2018
Yewelle is a bittersweet painting of a family member belonging to one of my very best friends. She is a memorial pastel of a precious kitty that the owner loved very much. I drew Yewelle during a horribly sad time after my Collie dog Lexi disappeared and was found drowned. Lexi used to sit and watch me paint at night, loyal to the end. I poured so much emotion into the piece as a result, and it connected us all. The surrounding light around it proved the opposite of darkness and sadness and actually completed the painting. It was my very first breakthrough in seeing light around my objects. The piece has been delivered, framed in wood with some silver accents.

“Confetti Parakeet” 2014 by Alison McGlamry
Pastel on Canson Mi Tientes
18″ x 25″ Matted
“Confetti” is a vibrant piece of a large tropical parakeet with an exotic party-themed background. It’s a completely unique “just for fun” piece of artwork that would look fabulous in your most tropical settings, kitchens, bathroom, or other. Matted in aqua and purple blues.
Sennelier, Mi-Tientes, Derwent, Prismacolor, Rembrandt

A beautiful cardinal is paired with lovely pink hues in this pastel painting of the cardinal in the cherry tree. I began working on these birds in 2016 and found that they were very well-loved. This particular piece has been reproduced on a few experimental greeting cards, something I look forward to repeating in more works. The cardinal is said to be an angel, coming around to assist you in hard times. I believe this to be true while I spent time focusing on their energetic presence in real life as well as on paper. I believe that their fiery hue and powerful, free-spirited presence make them a true original in the animal kingdom, and a perfect subject for an artist to depict.

“Blonde Terrier” by Alison McGlamry 1994
Blonde Terrier was a commission for a friend in high school, a piece for her own enjoyment. It was never picked up and is available for purchase. I ironically had a similar pet during this time named Annie. It is done in Rembrandt hard pastel sticks, Derwent pastels and Conte ‘pencils. Newspaper print is its’ surface.

“Cardinal in Kwanzan Cherry Tree” by Alison McGlamry 2017
Cardinal in Kwanza Cherry Tree was a gift to an acquaintance on social media. It was one of my first drawings on professional sanded paper. Cardinals are magical angels with a unique personality. I enjoyed the contrast of pink and red on a very bright shade of green.
Materials used were Rembrandt hard pastels, Sennelier half sticks and Derwent pastel pencils.
The piece belongs to glass bead maker, Tom Heath of South Carolina.

I just finished this sweet dream drawing of a favorite guitar that just about everyone knows, the Stratocaster. Make it come true. If you can dream it then you can create it.
